Merry Christmas 2010!

We rounded up all our crap and headed up to NM for a week of Christmas vacation last Tuesday. While we were home, Tom put up some lights for my mom and I took a stab at scraping some linoleum. (AWFUL) We also took 2 trips out to Hueco Tanks to try and send a climb we’re working on – needless to say it didn’t go down and so now we’re planning on returning at the end of January. 🙂 It was a nice week to relax and hang out with mom and Joe and also see some close relatives. It didn’t snow, but it was still fairly cold – AND we made out with some good loot. We got home this afternoon and the honeymoon’s already over because we start our renovations on the master bathroom tomorrow – Tommy has another week off is cracking the whip! HA! Should be fun.

More Presents!

We’re heading back home to NM for Christmas so we’re having present-opening sessions with our closest friends before we leave. Mike came over last night and brought with him TONS of presents for Henry. That kid has made out like a bandit so far this year. First, we bought him a big green slide. Then Grandpa bought him a bright red Radio Flyer wagon. And then Mike came over with clothes, a cool truck and a huge bag of balls. What more could a kid ask for??

Henry getting ready to unload
He decided taking them out one by one was too much trouble
Going nuts!
150 balls all over the yard
Throwing them down his new slide
WEEEEEEE!
Matty stopped by and hung out for a while
Still going...

Henry’s new Radio Flyer!

We took Grandpa out to see the lights of Winterhaven the other night and after walking around he took us out for dessert. Then we went back to his place where we had our own Christmas and opened presents. Grandpa bought Henry the coolest gift ever!! A brand new, bright red Radio Flyer wagon – and a huge teddy bear so it wouldn’t look so big!! He dropped by today and took Henry for a stroll around the neighborhood in his new present. It was great fun!

Grandpa waiting for us outside
Henry excited to go for a ride
Here we go!
Strollin' down the sidewalk
Good grief - this kid needs a haircut!
Thanks for the walk Grandpa!!

The Great Houdini!?

Henry had been outside playing for about 15 minutes when I heard him whining. I figured he was annoyed with something and just let it go but he persisted and then it turned into all out screaming. So I rushed outside to find him in his swing – BACKWARDS. The straps had been fastened and he couldn’t move because he was stuck. I have NO idea how he got that way  – I’m assuming he buckled himself in so he could swing and then got upset when he couldn’t get out and this was the end result!! Crazy kid!

Stuck in the swing
NOT happy
Get me outta here, MOM!!
Finally released
I wonder if he'll want to swing again...

One more project to cross off the list – Side patio

We decided to get our butts in gear and finish our westside patio while we were motivated. It took us a total of 6 days to finish it and because our good friends Paul and April gave  us their old brick, our total cost was only $100!! Yeah! Tamped it down last night and enjoyed a little fire too. Now on to our next project…whatever that is.

The wheelbarrows are ready to work!
Prepped and ready to go
One of the several loads of brick from our buds
Pounding pavers...again
Working into the night
Henry came out to inspect

Coming along
Tommy filling in the gaps
Cutting pavers in the dark - he didn't get in until 10:30 that night - yikes
Spreading rock around the border
All that's left is tamping

All done baby!
Ready for some mingling and a fire!
